My 2004 rio lost a timing belt at 64000 miles and wiped out the engine. Not covered under warantee because new belt was installed at 48000 miles so the belt would be covered for 12000 miles but not dammage from it stripping.

Kia motors says they only cover engine case not the internal components under the 100000 mile power train warantee.

Also the transmition warantee is the same only covers the shell not the gears inside. The deceptive sales and waranty claims should be against the law, and the goverment should step in and correct this illegal practice of screwing over the American people

Monetary Loss: $1400.

Get a second opinion from another dealership. When I had problems with my Optima, one dealership said they wouldn't cover it under warranty, another one fixed it under warranty.

Overall, I am now a happy Kia owner. Try another Kia dealership.
