Company fixed the issue and I have been provided with apology.

Original review Aug 21, 2024
I've written several reviews already pertaining to the prevalent safety issues that owners of pre-owned KIA vehicles for optima, soul, Sorento, and Sportage are now facing and have faced in the past. I am referring to Kia's defective and problematic GDI theta II engines that have caused more harm than good.
Not only is this an obvious safety issue to the public on the roads and busy highways, but it also has had an effect on the economy as well.

People are being constantly stranded with no cars, with no answers, and no reprieve from the negligence of Kia corporate and the incompetence of Kia dealerships. There is a 2 to 3 month backlog of engine replacements and Kia is raking in the profits at the expense of consumer's suffering. I've read about too many instances where owners are denied help, assistance and guidance regarding their troubles and inconveniences as a result of these defective GDI engines.
Kia refuses to do anything about it. I am demanding they issue a recall or at the very least compensate those that Kia has denied through claims and service requests.

I only asked to be reimbursed for a new engine which is a drop in the bucket compared to what Kia's annual profits are. They are all friendly when they want you to buy a pre owned kia optima, soul, Sportage and Sorento but then leave you to fend for yourself after the car is driven off the lot. I've owned many makes in my life and never had to ever change an engine before.
Do the right thing Kia! Do the honorable thing.

Isn't that part of your culture? Make no mistake, I will continue to raise awareness about this issue that Kia clearly ignores and wants no part of. They won't even honor the warranty in some cases and expect consumers to jump through hoops, so Kia can make more money off of them with no solution. They insist that it is our fault because we didn't properly maintain our cars.

I'm not trying to bankrupt Kia, I just want some justice or the very least an apology from them. That's not asking for much is it?
Thank you and Kia sucks until proven wrong

Kia Motors - Upped Mileage, loved my Forte, disappointed and distraught

After a certain amount of time I realized that my mileage had been tampered with. I took pictures from day to day the difference was about 1,000 or more miles added to it.

I called KIA customer service, sent all the photos and no result. Bought from KIA of Anderson service check at Macon Ga. Cecilia Stephanie Swafford PO BoX 23 Davisboro Ga. Had an accident July 4, 2024 and vehicle was totaled.

VIN on the vehicle is 3FPF34AD9KE06367 on the door

It is as a 2019 white KIA forte. And that was what I purchased from on 2020.

Progressive was my insurance company. I never traded the vehicle and I never parted it out.

I refinanced with Blue federal for the vehicle I purchased through KIA of Anderson with the original contract agreement. I did this online.

Early Engine Problem (1500miles)

Contains 1 confidential file for company representatives

Got a 2024 Sportage PHEV from Car Pros Kia Glendale CA on Aug. 3, 2024.

The engine light came on on Sept 17, 2024 when I was deiving home from work. Took it to the service department the following day To have them check it. They said it was just the gas cap.. Drove the car again and the engine light came on again Sept.

25, 2024. Took it back to the service department, they said they will replace the thermostat. I got the car back on Sept. 28, 2024.

I charged its battery for the first time on Sept. 29, 2024. The following day the battery was drained without using the EV mode. When I was driving I noticed that its idling RPM is 1500 so, I decided to have my car towed to the service department on Sept.

30, 2024. They said they checked everything, nothing's wrong with the car. So, I got the car back again, I noticed that the RPM when its parked was 1500 and it reached 3000 when I was driving 35 mph. I dont feel safe driving this car anymore!

The engine light came on again for the third time on Oct 2, 2024. I had it towed to the service department again! I am paying an expensive junk car!

This brandnew car has been in and out of their service department and I cant even enjoy what Im paying for. This has given me a lot of stress and inconvenience in a span of two months.I dont want to risk my life and my familys life driving it!

Something to think about before you buy a KIA: do you want a car with customer support or a car with no customer support? If you want a car where technicians have documented and confirmed a warrantie

stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full
Contains 1 confidential file for company representatives

Something to think about before you buy a KIA: do you want a car with customer support or a car with no customer support? If you want a car where technicians have documented and confirmed a warrantied and recently recalled part but refuse to replace it because there are no light indications or computer codes, then buy a KIA.

In October 2023 (see KIA service ticket) my KIA was brought into Jackson KIA Cocoa, FL, for something not operating correctly. The vehicle periodically would hesitate when pressing the accelerator and other times when you had pressed the accelerator to go faster and removed your foot from the accelerator, the vehicle would not slow down, rather continue to speed up even if you tapped the brakes. The service technician had the vehicle for two days and confirmed during several of his test drives that the vehicle would hesitate and speed up with your foot off the accelerator. The service technician said the fuel pump was the issue; however, to cover it under our vehicle warranty, the vehicle would need to generate either a service code error or the indicator light would have to turn on.

Neither of these happened during the service technicians test drives. The service technician wanting to confirm his assessment that the fuel pump was faulty, replaced the fuel pump with a new one and test drove the vehicle. The issues of hesitation and acceleration didnt happen as they did with old fuel pump. The service technician put the old fuel pump back in because I refused to accept a charge for replacing the fuel pump when it was under warranty.

A few months later, KIA Motors sent a notice to all KIA owners that KIA recognized the fuel pumps were faulty and were encouraged to take the vehicle to a dealership to have it replaced.

The notice from KIA Motors outlined specific symptoms that a vehicle may display in which the dealership should replace the faulty fuel pump.

I made an appointment with Jackson Kia in August 2024, explaining that the vehicle had not improved and no error codes and no indication lights but the vehicle was accelerating and hesitating even more than it was almost a year ago when their service technician confirmed the issue with the fuel pump. I left the vehicle with Jackson KIA again for three days for them to diagnose the problem and confirm that the fuel pump was faulty. The service technician confirmed that the other service technician from a year ago diagnosed the problem correctly. It was in fact the fuel pump and is exhibiting the conditions as outlined in the KIA Motors Fuel Pump notice, except the vehicle did not have any diagnostic error codes nor any indication lights.

The vehicle was returned with no fuel pump replacement.

About a month later while driving the vehicle on I95 North in Florida I began to pass a vehicle and like normal I accelerated as I entered the fast lane. My KIA hesitated for a brief second but accelerated. As I completed passing the vehicle, I removed my foot from the gas pedal to slow down and enter back into the traveling lane. The KIA didnt respond by slowing down, rather it was accelerating very quickly.

I tried to apply the brakes to slow the KIA down but it was unresponsive. The KIA accelerated to 115 MPH, yes 115 MPH before slowing down so I could return to the traveling lane. Another incident occurred about two weeks after this near-death experience while returning from Titusville, FL to Home. As I pulled out from the gym into the lane of travel on busy Highway 50, I pressed the KIAs gas pedal to accelerate, and it hesitated and responded by going into idle mode at 5 MPH.

Again, an almost near-death experience because of the KIA.

Here you have a huge corporation, KIA Motors, notifying owners of a specific known warrantied part replacement, and two different KIA Service Technicians clearly stating that the vehicle has the issue but because of the lack of error codes, KIA determines it best to continue to operate the vehicle with the faulty part. Is KIA attempting to repeat the same as Toyota Motors did with their gas pedal recall? People have to die for KIA to realize an issue may not exhibit all the indicators of the part being faulty? The KIA vehicle is unsafe to operate, and imagine as an owner traveling with your family, grandchildren, or friends and you pull into a lane of travel and the vehicle idles or you accelerate to speeds exceeding 100 MPH in a busy section of town.

Ask yourself does it sound as if KIA Motors has your best interest, your safety, your familys safety, or the public safety at the forefront? Think long and hard before you make that purchase of a KIA.

Fuel pump has nothing to do with a car mysteriously accelerating. Nice sob story but it sounds fake.

I just wanted a simple answer

stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full

I had incurred some out-of-pocket related to, first, the electronics of the car, and then, the rental car. Kia would not give me a loaner car even though the problem was electronics-related.

I had driven the vehicle for over 11 months without any problems, then, on April 8, after I had gassed up and tried to restart the engine, the following message came on my instrument panel: "System error."

I could not move the vehicle away from the fuel pump, and the tow truck that my auto insurance called for me could not move it either. Apparently, it was a four wheel drive and so the back wheels would not turn.

Desperate, I called a mobile mechanic, who charged me $380 to reset the computer, which he claimed was the problem. But because I killed the engine, thinking I was good to go, the vehicle failed to start again with the same message appearing on the instrument panel.

I called a second tow truck (a flat bed this time since the first one had only front tire hook on equipment) to take the paralyzed vehicle to the local Kia dealership. There, my case manager in the service department said I should talk to Sales because the vehicle was still under one year-old and I could therefore get a loaner car.

Well, I went to Sales and they told me that loaner cars were given out only by the Service Department.

Did I say it was that Department that sent me to Sales?!

To cut a long story short, I ended up renting a vehicle from the dealership to get to work. I had to keep it for three days so I was given a bill of $176. I expected the KIA Headquarters to reimburse me the two out-of-pocket expenses, but someone called Karen insisted on speaking with me. She said she needed to see the invoice that the local Kia dealership issued after they had fixed the error problem and a recall notice.

Since the problems were electronics-related, that dealership did not charge me anything for the repairs. They only charged me for the rental.

I explained all of that to KIA Corporate through their Customer Contact portal, yet, the lady mentioned above insisted on seeing a repair invoice that does not exist.

I just sent her scanned copies of all the papers the local Kia dealership issued to me that day. I have only the business card and their usual work completed satisfaction survey.

I have asked Ms. Karen if she needs those documents too before she can decide if I am entitled to a reimbursement of any of the two expenses.,

Warranty des not cover a rental car. It clearly is lined out in your warranty.

If you eve have a warranty from the manufacturer.

Some dealers offer a loaner car, but you are not guaranteed it. The towing may be covered depends on the warranty.

Guest

There are still invoices even if they don't charge you. Sometimes they call them work orders. There is a record.

Resolved: Disappointed, lied about services on vehicle

stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full

I'm sending this message on behalf of my 91-year-old mother, Margarite Jackson. She took her Kia Forte for regular service, and two weeks after the service was completed, my brother was driving her out of town when the vehicle broke down. After she paid to have it towed to the nearest mechanic shop, it was determined that the motor had blown. Rountree Kia towed the vehicle to Lake City, Florida to inspect and repair the vehicle.

The next day, no one called to give an update on the vehicle as to what caused the problem or if they had started working on it. After two days, my mother called and spoke to a service representative who told her the vehicle was being inspected and would notify her of the status. However, another day elapsed, but there was no follow-up call.

So I called and was told that the person I needed to speak to was out of the office. I left a message but never heard back. I then contacted the store manager, and he gave me the name of the service manager to contact. After talking with the service manager, he assured me the vehicle was being inspected.

After a couple more days with no contact, my mother and brother drove the one-hour drive to see the status of the vehicle. To their surprise, the vehicle was in the parking lot, untouched!

So all this time, they had been lying to my mother about her vehicle, which she needed for transportation. With this type of service, we will not buy another Kia vehicle. Someone needs to be held accountable for this disappointing service we received.

Absolutely HORRIBLE customer service at Olympia Kia

Your dealerships are the face of your corporation. They are responsible for maintaining your corporate image. The Olympia Kia dealership in Olympia, WA, is not doing you any favors.

In December 2024, I purchased a Sportage Plug-In Hybrid. The first vehicle I purchased wouldn't accept a charge. The dealership had never plugged the vehicle in to test it. When I called the salesperson, they sent me to service who had my car for a couple of days. Nothing was happening and I demanded they give me a new vehicle. A brand new 46k vehicle should work correctly out of the box. They eventually found me a new vehicle and redid all of the financing and agreements. As a part of my purchase, I was to receive fitted all-weather mats, a cargo cover, a cargo tray, and the paint and interior protection. About 5-6 weeks later, I took my car in to the service department to have these things installed. They had my car for 24 hours. When I picked up my vehicle, there was no cargo cover. The service department person argued with me, trying to tell me that the cargo mat was the cargo cover and seemed to have no idea what a cargo cover was. When I got home, I noticed dirt on my car seats which told me they had not done anything to the interior. I then pulled up one of the fitted all-weather mats to find that they didn't bother to vacuum the carpet before installation. I sent a text to the service department person with a photo of the cargo cover from the corporate website and mentioned that I didn't think they had applied the treatment to the interior of my vehicle. I was correct. The service person was full of excuses and they told me they would only need my vehicle for an hour to complete the work. She even said I could wait for the vehicle. I attempted to reach out to the service person to schedule another appointment to bring my car in and didn't get a response, so I called the service department and selected the option for scheduling appointments. This apparently is done by an outside company. I received a number of confirmation texts and emails from the service department.

Today, I was scheduled to bring my vehicle in at 2:30. I had to arrange to take vacation time from my job in order to do this. I received a call from the service person at 8:00 am saying that they wouldn't be able to work on my car today because they needed to have my vehicle for 24 hours in order to apply the spray protectant and also that their detailing department was down to one person, etc. There was never once an apology, I was only given excuses. I must now wait until March 13th and once again go through the ridiculous process of getting a loaner vehicle which is actually a rental car.

I do not trust this dealership. The best part of my experience was my salesperson, Ty. The sales manager was okay, but we had moments where he insulted my intelligence by trying to spin things and basically doing the typical *** car salesman stuff. The service department in Olympia has been awful for years. This is my second Sportage. For years, I took my 2007 Sportage to Olympia Kia Service and was a loyal customer. About 12 years ago, they hired a different service manager. Since then, I have refused to take my car to them. They are incompetent when it comes to customer service. I once scheduled an appointment to have my oil changed only to find that they don't actually honor oil change appointments and that even though I'd made an appointment, it was first come first served, and so I had to sit and wait for a very long time.

If I ever manage to get the service department to complete their work properly, I will never set foot in the Olympia Kia dealership again. This means I have to drive from Olympia to Tacoma, WA (25 miles through the busy I-5 corridor) for service.

I have been a loyal Kia customer for nearly 20 years. This will be the last Kia I purchase.

Pros:

Preferred solution: Compensation for the dishonesty, horrible customer service, and wasting my time. It is a hardship that I now have to spend a full day to drive 25 miles in order to get service from the Car Pros Kia service department in Tacoma, WA.

User's recommendation: AVOID Olympia Kia and the Olympia Kia Service Department

Avoid Kia Corinth & Kia Corporate – They Don't Care About Their Customers!

stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full

I have been a loyal customer of this dealership for several years and have purchased three vehicles here. Despite that, the service Ive received during this ordeal has been unacceptable.

The only person who has been remotely helpful is my salesman, William. Everyone else has either had their hands tied or simply couldnt be bothered to return my calls or emails.

Phil, the manager, promised to get me out of this lemon vehicle but never followed through. He even advised me not to file a claim, only to now try to shift the blame onto medespite the fact that he hasnt returned a single call in over a year.

Because of their inaction, my vehicle has dropped significantly in trade-in value, and now Im being told I have to take a nearly $10K loss on my loan.

The general manager claims theres nothing he can do, the dealership owner refuses to respond, and Kia corporate has been equally unhelpful.

If youre considering purchasing a Kiaespecially from Kia Corinththink twice. They do not stand by their customers, and they will leave you stuck with a defective vehicle while your investment depreciates.

I got my car on Dec 17th, 2024 frim Value Kia in philadelphia, pa on Essington ave. I was told I was getting a promotion and wouldn't have to make a payment until March.

Here it is March, and I'm told by the finance company that I am 2 months behind and they are about to repossess my car. When I called Value Kia, they told me my first payment was in January. The promotion was one of the reasons I got the car.

I feel like I was manipulated and tricked just to get a sale. I just put out $2,168 for January, February, and March, no promotion.

Original review Apr 05, 2025
We recently bought a premium model Kia Sportage. I am very disappointed in the lack of features for your top-of-the-line model.

There is no ability to connect the car to our garage door opener. To retract the side mirrors, I must open the window and do it manually. This should be an electronic feature. The side mirrors are not a part of the seat memory system and must be reset when changing drivers.

The voice activation for the phone and navigation system does not work. I was scheduled by the service department for a system update. This should have been done before the car was delivered. Had I known about these deficiencies, I'm not sure I would have purchased the car.

This is supposed to be your top-of-the-line model. Why are there these deficiencies?

My car was stolen from in front of my gated apartment, even after the upgrade. Luckily, I own a manual transmission vehicle, the security of the millennium.

I carried my fob around and found my car myself, even after reporting it stolen to the town police department. I'm still confused on how it started up after the upgrade was supposed to prevent the car from turning on. I disdain social media and KIA for producing cars that are worse than Honda.

Review of Kia Service: Extremely Disappointing and Unprofessional

stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full

I had a very frustrating experience with Kia's customer service after taking my Kia Picanto in for its annual service on December 30th. My car was at 90,000 km, and since it was the holiday period, I didn't use it much.

After the service was completed, my husband noticed that the tail lights were out, and two days later, I discovered that the left front light was also not working.

I contacted Kia to understand why these issues were not addressed during the service, and that's when I spoke with Anthea. She informed me that they were aware of the lights being out, but also told me that they had found the clutch and battery to be faulty as well. This was news to me, as I had never been informed about these issues during the service. Anthea promised to send me the findings via email so I could bring the car in again, but that email never arrived.

As a Grade 1 teacher, I have a very demanding schedule and cannot afford to take time off work.

I explained this to Anthea, and she suggested they could wait for me after closing hours to fix the car. However, I expressed my concerns about driving in peak hour traffic on the highway with faulty lights and a potentially dangerous car, and how disappointed I was that these issues weren't properly addressed during the service.

Now, over a week later, I have still not received the promised email, and my concerns have been completely ignored. I am extremely disappointed with the lack of communication, professionalism, and attention to safety.

If anything were to happen to me on the road due to their negligence, I will not hesitate to take legal action. Kia has shown a complete disregard for customer safety and service, and I strongly recommend that others reconsider where they take their vehicles for servicing.

In March 2016, I purchased a Kia Soul from DCH Kia of Temecula for my father. This was his first new car, and he was immensely proud of it. As seniors, my parents found the vehicle easy to enter and exit, making it the perfect choice for them. My dad drove this car everywhere, always praising its quality. All maintenance was performed at DCH Kia in Temecula, and when my parents moved to Orange County, they continued to follow the recommended service schedule. Several recalls were promptly addressed by the dealership.

I chose this car with the assurance provided by Kia's 10-year, 100,000-mile powertrain warranty. In early May 2024, the car passed its smog check with flying colors, having only 58,000 miles on the odometer.

However, in June 2024, while picking up relatives at the airport, the Kia Soul suddenly lost all power and emitted a gasoline and oil smell from the engine. The car wouldn't go faster than 5 miles per hour, and I had to have it towed back to DCH Kia in Temecula at a cost of $300. After a weekend, the service advisor, Mr. {{Redacted}}, informed me that the catalytic converter was faulty. This diagnosis was perplexing, given that the car had recently passed its smog check. Additionally, I noticed the engine had been burning oil and there was a gasoline smell on the oil dipstick. Despite these issues, Mr. {{Redacted}} stated that replacing the catalytic converter would cost $2,900, and I had already paid $300 for the diagnosis.

I contacted Kia corporate in Irvine, California, but they refused to honor the 10-year, 100,000-mile powertrain warranty. Enclosed are pictures and videos showing rows of vehicles with blown engines at the dealership, indicating a widespread problem with Kia's GDI engines.

I strongly advise against purchasing a vehicle from DCH Kia in Temecula, and I regret recommending this dealership to friends and family. Kia and Hyundai do not stand by their products, and now my elderly parents are without their beloved car.
