Two months ago, on June 11th, my 2014 Kia Optima experienced engine failure while I was driving home from work. Thankfully, I was able to drive home safely, even though I couldn't accelerate over 20 mph.

The next day, I towed my vehicle to a local repair shop, but they informed me that my diagnostic test had a P1326 code that they could not repair. I was advised to take my vehicle to a Kia dealership, which I did. I spoke with a gentleman named Dennis Collier, and he told me that I had to get a diagnostic test first. Then the results needed to be sent to Kia corporate before any repairs could be made.

My car stayed at the dealership for three weeks before I removed my vehicle. I only removed my vehicle because I had to purchase a brand-new car and I didn't feel comfortable having my car sit for another three weeks with no diagnostic test. I had an appointment set for July 26, so I decided to just tow my car back when the time came. However, when I towed my car back for my appointment, I was told that no work would be done until Kia sent out an approval letter for a diagnostic test.

So, my car had to sit for another two plus weeks before they would even touch my vehicle. I actually recorded both conversations, and it's clear that I was given two different reasons why my car had to sit and wait. At this point, I will be consulting with a lawyer because no other repair shop can fix my car and the damage to my engine is due to a manufacturing issue.

I have a salvage title due to rear-end damage, not front-end. All I want is for Kia to fix or replace my engine free of charge.

User's recommendation: Due your research before buying from Kia. What good is a nice looking car when the engine is faulty.

Monetary Loss: $1500.

Preferred solution: Repairs or replacement to my engine due to a manufacturing issue (P1326 code) Knock sensor.

Kia Motors Pros: Nice looking car inside and out.

Kia Motors Cons: Cheaply made vehicle.
