Kia sucks

I bought a kia sorento 2 days after the warranty expires the light for the air bag went off cost to replace over 500 dlls. the light for check engine constantly goes off. I got a notice about a RECALL with the drive axle went to the dealer just to be sent to a major one. went to have it replace because of recall was there for several hours, personnel bad at communicating. After it was done got charged $225.00 parts and labor for something that was supposed to be repair for free, luckily I had my checks with me. After a few months later one of the pipes on the exhaust was making lots of noise bought the part and got it replace expensive. got the front axle sealant replace several times already, breaks, wheel bearing, every year I replace the tires. You name it I probably got it done already it seems you fix something and already you have something else to work on. Of all the car I have own this is the worst.

Do not buy a kia

i bought a 2004 kia optima in 2005 with less the 600 miles. they told me that the warranty would be 5 yr instead of 10 because whoever bought the car. returned it because his wife wanted a altima not a optima. the warranty ended a yr earlier because it was five from the date the other people bought it, not from the time i bought it. the locks on the doors started clicking by themselves, locking me out of the car on a very cold morning. i've never had a car to tear up and everything go wrong with it. buy a toyota or anything other than a kia. this is kia of hattiesburg, they will tell you anything to buy this mess.

Screw Kia Motors. 2010 KIA FORTE EX with 12 miles brand new ..

Electronic problems with radio horn, molding issues, a/c issues, power steering rack, what a nightmare of a car .... 16 days in the shop from may 2010 till November then had time to finally take it again in December of 2010 and just picked it up after 2 weeks. KIA is *** and they send Chris Capuzzi a master technician which created more problems then he fixed.

Had to take it to a third dealer which I hope finally resolved the issues with the car with new horn new power steering rack. Im living with the other issues.

my g/f has the same kind and year as you do--kia has some very strange problems--her driver side door lock has been replaced twiced because of same thing but it locks her inside the car, you can not even open it from the out side with the key and she has to crawl over the seats and get out on the pass. side-that is a very big safety issue--dealer admits they have a problem but its not been recalled--i'm waiting to hear someone died because of a accident and they were trapped inside the car--her other issues are the head lights--i have to replace both low beams about 2 times a year--have had the electrical system checked and of course they say its ok--the interior lights keep blowing and the blubs are dealer only parts--right now she has 3 out and the blubs are 25.00 each--maintaince on the car is very expensive--only thing cheap to do is change oil--she had a timing belt replaced and a tune up and it was 1300.00 at the dealer-- we did shop around and they were the cheapest by around 200.00--i'm sure next car she buys will not be a kia--you better be on the rich side to own one of these

NEVER AGAIN - KIA!!!

I had the following problems with my Kia Soul 2009: - peeling paint all around the car (car painted twice -once whole car) - apparent poor quality interior plastic (scratches everywhere)- not fixed - shaking engine (the alleged defect in the clutch)- I hope it will be repaired - EPS died (we will see about that) - peeling protection on the chassis (not fixed) - overheating problems with the air system (not fixed) - stabilizer at the front right wheel (fixed) - rear wiper noise (fixed) - I wonder what will follow. I hope it will not fall apart- or it will? That is the Question! NEVER AGAIN - KIA!!!

Freehold Kia freehold nj

Update by user Feb 02, 2012

Just bought a new sorento v6 from them left the dealer with no gas coasted into the nearest station to gas up got home checked the tires felt like ride was too hard and they had over 50 lbs. checked the oil level was over a quart over full. well the next morning started the engine and oil light stayed on about 6 seconds and engine makes a load rapping noise. went back to freehold kia and was told by the service manager too bad we can't fix that. I contacted Kia motors was told to bring it to a different dealer they didnt trust freehold dealer so I took it and was there about 3hrs to be given a printout from kia saying oh thats normal live with it. well thats bull *** no engine raps after sitting overnite without something wrong and now with some milage on it it only has to sit about an hour to get the noise recontacted kia got the run around then they sent me email said they will contact me in january to meet with the district manager so I can get another bull *** story from him.

its not the oil filter been changed several times by kia

#574767

The engine raps in the am because the anti drain back valve in the filter does not work. In the am BEFORE you start the motor remove the top of the filter canister ( located on the right side of the engine right next to the plastic cover on the top of the motor) with a 27mm socket.

I'll bet you find no oil in the filter. Get a new filter and tighten the cap to 25 foot pounds. Also change the oil and use a 10 .. 30 blend..Use an oil marked for HIGH MILAGE.

The viscosity is better. In the am after all this let it idle for 3 or 4 minutes or until it warms a bit.

Hope this helps.. :upset

Purchased a Kia Soul + in May 2011 with one of the perks being gas mileage of 26/32MPG EPA rating. Bever got close to either receiving around 22 city and 27 highway with a combined 24-25MPG.

Then Kia offered rebates for all Soul owners of 2012-**** model years saying that 2011 Kia Soul's got advertised MPG to which I say BS. Traded in my gas hog Soul last month and went back to Ford and bought a Focus which so far gets exactly what the EPA estimates of 31 city and 38 highway consistently and a much better constructed automobile. Kia and as far as I'm concerned Hyundai have lost a customer forever and I deter as many people as I can from purchasing their vehicles saying that they do not deliver nor back up their vehicles when it comes time to fess up.

It's amazing that a 2011 Soul gives it's advertised MPG's but a 2012/2013 Soul does not although all three years mechanically are the same. May you die and not prosper.

Horrible sales clerk

I went to kia because I was shopping for a car and if you live in fl you would know that O.B.T is where the main dealers are. So when i went to kia dealer it was completly open I shouldve took that as a warning so we get inside and a sales man greets us and we go take a look at cars and when we decided on a car I asked a price he said its cheap don't worry I kepted asking and the same response he gave me. So we go inside for paper work its took almost 2hours for a response and we were the only ones there. Then i finally get a price on it and it was way over price they wanted a toyota corrolla and they had one they wanted 15,000 and at the toyota dealer it was 12,000 and then they took us to a small room with a manager and we totally disagreed with the monthy payment of almost $500 and we told him toyota is givin us a better deal and he said then go to toyota. I said ok i will and we walked. Worst dealership ever don't ever go there ever

Don't buy a Kia.

I bought a new 2012 Kia Sorento in the EX model. On the website, it states on the model web page that the EX model comes with 18 inch wheels. http://kia.ca/pages/showroom/ModelOverview.aspx?model=Sorento There is no where on this web page that states that it could come with any other wheels if you have the EX model. We bought the 2012 Kia Sorento EX and realized now a couple of months later that our vehicle has 17 inch wheels instead of the 18 inch wheels. When we called them this month, they stated that they had production issues and had EX models made with 17 inch wheels. They never told us about this production issue at the time of our sale and it is not stated anywhere on any of the documentations that we signed that we were getting 17 inch wheels. They then e-mailed us stating that it states in fine print on their website that: Kia Canada Inc. reserves the right to make changes at any time without notice, and without any obligations as to colours, materials, specifications, features, accessories, packages, models and any applicable programs. Some vehicles shown may include optional equipment or may not be exactly as shown. Kia Canada Inc., by the dissemination of this material, does not create any warranties, either expressed or implied, to any Kia products. This is only on one page of their website, under features and specifications (not under models). I believe that this is sneaky and dishonest of them. http://kia.ca/pages/showroom/Features_Specs.aspx?model=Sorento As well, we never signed any documentations that have this statement. Our conditions of sale states: The motor vehicle described herein includes the motor vehicle as described on the front side of this agreement, together with all attachments, accessories, options and additions thereto whether attached, affixed or installed on the motor vehicle before or after the date of this Agreement,..." It just states on the front of our condition of sales that we bought a 2012 Kia Sorento model no SR75DC They are not willing to give us 18 inch wheels (which is what is advertised with the Kia Sorento EX) due to this fine print since they can replace anything/materials in their car (well, stated in their fine print). That means they could even replace air bags or the engine without notice! I also don't trust if their warranty is valid since it seems they can change anything at any time. The company just seems untrustworthy and the customer service is terrible. I can't believe that they'd rather lose possibly tons of thousands of dollars (letting all our friends and families, people on the web know about our situation) than to give us the 18 inch wheels. I would recommend buying a European car or a Toyota instead. Now I know not to buy a Kia again.

I cant believe that they do that. They are very lawyered up and will temp you to buy and you have to make sure every little thing before you buy.

Its so unfair how they do that stuff. let me tell you that they cant get the parts dept right not one time I got right parts for my car. I got stuck with a different cargo liner that they said it was right and in the system it said it was right. They make so many changes and do not give anyone any way even the employees to know whats right from wrong.

Screw those hamster commercials and the way they mislead customers. the warranty cant be transferred to 100k to a second owner too thats in the fine print.

Funny the link you posted less than a month ago no longer exists. Sounds fishy if you ask me. I hope they fixed your problem for good PR but I am doubting it since you have not revisited this link to confirm you were taken care of proper.

We had paint damage to this car they won't fix

we bought a new kia sportage from st.cloud kia,in st.cloud mn. it has a 3 year 36000 mile warranty on the paint within days of getting the car we noticed the paint on the doors and other spots was bad. the service manager said how do we know you didn't put these spots on the car.than at about 25000 miles the paint started to wear of the doors. now with 42000 miles on the car they refuse to help. how do these dealers get away with this. and they are still selling cars hard to belive.

I got a '12 sorento and I noticed a bubble on the paint on the front pass side pillar. The dealer is willing to work with me but how to go about it is the issue...I thought Kia had a great painting process but what the heck?

#437834

I have a 2010 Tacoma with really bad paint and they won't fix it either.

#426551

I worked at KMMG in the paint dept. the dealer should have repaired the vehicle at no cost to you.

You should contact the owner of the dealership. If that does not satisfy you, call corporate.

That vehicle should not have made out the plant. The Sportage is made in Korea, not the US.

Kia's factory rep and Bob Bell Glenburine MD crooks or idiots or both

Kia's Factory Representative and Bob Bell Kia, Glenburnie, MD are either crooks, idiots, or both. I purchased my 2008 Sportage 4WD 6 cylinder EX new from Bob Bell. I was very happy with it, at first, Sia's Kia. Moreover, my late husband had his own auto repair shop and always told me to change the oil every 3000 miles, dispite the manufactuer's saying 7,000. My son's are both mechanics now too. I took my car to my son's shop every 3000 miles to have the car serviced. I purchased the oil, Pennsylvania motor oil and filters myself, by the case. He did the service for me. At about 40,000 miles the Kia started hard shifting between gears...sort of bank into gear. I took it to Bob Bell, to have it checked out. The service manager called and said the transmission was bad and would have to be replaced. Moreover, since I never had the car serviced at Bob Bell, nor had the transmission serviced in 40,000 miles...the 100,000 warranty was null and void. I explained the above...but he would not accept. I called your factory rep and he called the Bob Bell service manager and said Kia would uphold the service manager, but pay for new transmission...but I would have to pay about $2,000 in labor. My new husband, married Jan 17, 2011, said that is a crock of $#$%#@...and took it to a transmission repair shop and had the fluid changed...the shop said the filter is inside the transmission and would be several hundred dollars to get to it to change it. My husband then took the Sportage out and drove it hard and down shifted using 2 WD and 4 WD... Walla...the car shifts fine now...no more hard shifting problmes... My husband said Kia probably got some dirt in their duing the build and it was clogging a port in the transmission. Kia's rep and Kia's Bob Bell are a bunch of idiots, crooks, or both and reneged on the 100,000 mile warranty for no reason at all. Ps, I saved some of the old transmission fluid in sterile bottles I got from CVS too...if interested.

Surrounded by idiots...go get and read a Kia Warranty Book...can get service any where and even do it yourself, just need to keep receipts and records of same... does not have to be done by the dealer...moreover there is no transmission check at 40,000 as it claimed in the book...just check color and level of fluid in trans at each oil change part of the overall oil and lube service...

#379888

cohena2, go back to school and learn how to read and while at it, how to comprehend what you read. 1.

The transmission oil fixed the problem, not the $5,000 replacement the dealer's service manager claimed was needed. 2. New car owners can do the required service themselves or take to local shop...just need to keep a record that was done timely. We did twice as often as called for in the manuel.

I had hoped that others who have the same problem with hard shifting on Kia's will read this. I had seen on the Kia owners site, that in the past others paid the price.

#378330

You agreed to have them service your vehicle in order for the warranty to be valid. YOU AGREED. Then you ruin a perfectly good car and want someone else to fix it free.

#377999

You voided their warranty by having your car serviced elsewhere. How is that their fault?

New 2012 KIA,has dangerous/deadly steering problem, transmission,loud engine noise.

My 2012 Kia Sorento, purchased at Roper Kia, Joplin Mo. Has a dangerous steering issue. Steering so tight, even the slightest move of the wheel causes the car to go into a zig-zag motion. This not only puts fear into the driver, but causes cars around you to react in same, putting themselves, cars around them as well as me in danger. I also reported a lunge/surge in the transmission after all the gears have engaged. Without warning either a surge in power or a drop in power occurs. This happens after the shift to the driving gear as well as after a down ***. The final issue, is a loud knocking/clacking noise in the motor. Service Dept.put car on computer and told me it was perfect??? I looked at many small cross/overs before purchasing this car. I felt very happy with my choice. After reading all the negative reviews, many with the same complaints I have made,I am very unhappy with my purchase, and the large amount of money I have spent. All of the dissatisfied KIA owners on these pages should get together and post a public notice, then we should all file a class action suit. We have a right to a quality product,a credible warranty, and good service. This company boast "Best warranty, quality, mileage, service and safty record.. They need to stand behind their promise. Steering is So sensitive / it darts in either direction at a slight touch of the steering wheel. It is NOT A SPEED SENSITIVE POWER STEERING!

I own a 2012 Sorento SX and am dumping it as soon as possible. My transmission went out at 14k miles.

KIA said they fixed it by replacing the entire transmission with a rebuilt transmission.

Nice, a fairly brand new car with a rebuilt transmission. Spotty electrical problems, doors won't open, GPS goes haywire, I am done with this piece of junk.

freehold kia sold me a lemon, but its fine now that the computer says its ok,very unsafe vehicle, steering in a zig zag motion is not normal at 65mph,anyone want to meet me at freehold kia to protest,i will be there saturday morning, freehold kia rt9,very unsafe uncontrollable steering, freehold kia sold me an unsafe vehicle, said they would help, but changed their mind cause the computer said :(

#459738

i just bought a 2012 kia sorento. i was driving on the parkway and all of a sudden the truck starts to go in a zigzag motion.

for no reason!! i was going about 65 mph. if there was any cars next to me it would have been a very bad accident!!! i am very afraid to drive the car anymore.

the people at freehold nj kia made me feel so good

about getting me another car then they told me they cant help me and there is no problem with it!! this is not gonna be the end of this!!!!!!!!

#445368

I am having a major problem with accelerating smoothly from a stop and with braking. My 2012 Sorento GDI acts literally as if it has a mind of its own.

It accelerates by lunging forward, or just seems to stall in intersections (I am pressing the gas pedal with no response and then a lunge). Also if I take my foot off the accelerator, it literally brakes with out me applying the brake. It down shifts and jerks. I have taken it in, called KIA usa and am currently in a loaner hoping to get a solution.

I am actually afraid to drive it!!

Anyone else with this problem? It seems to happen the most when driving first thing in the morning or after it hasn't been driven for a few hours and almost exclusively when going 10 to 35 mph...it doesn't do this surging or breaking when on the fwy.

Defected Voice controlled GPS in Las Vegas area on 2012 Sorento

Bought a 2012 Sorento in May 2011. Overall a good car and my wife loves it- except for one thing: The voice-activated GPS system does not work in my area (Las Vegas. The dealer installed a new one that didn't work either and than discovered that all of the 2012 Sorento's on the lot had the same defect. KIA says that it is a software issue confined to the Las Vegas area and that they're working the issue. I bought the car in May 2011 and it's now mid-October and nothing but sporadic updates from KIA customer service saying that they are working the issue.-no date of when it will be fixed. They are becoming very frustrating to work with and this was something that was broken the day we bought the car. I am wondering if the Las Vegas area dealers are selling their 2012 Sorentos without telling the customers about that defect. Maybe I'll look into that...

Dealer Service

I purchased my wifes Kia Rondo at a dealer that no longer sells Kias. When I brought the car in for service at the new "local" Kia dealer I followed the dealers recommendation as to service required. Kia motors had sent me various coupons for discounts on servicing of the car. When I presented the coupons I was told I could only use one. Although the coupons were for different services, the dealer would only honor one. I now have a check engine light and need to bring the car in for servicing. I do not trust the dealers service department and can not contact Kia directly for instructions on where to bring the car for servicing.
