bought a 2012 kia sportage ---sticker says 31 mpg---barely gets 24mpg---i also paid way too much
for this junker---rides like a truck with no springs ---do not buy kia---stay with known brands--
we have checked mileage 6 or 8 times with strickley hiway miles---fill up , change all settings on computer , set trip meter to 0----pull onto ramp to interstate---drive flat country steady 65 to 70 miles per hour--we are in our late sixties---when gauge shows about quarter tank left we pull over , fill tank, and check miles with calculator ---24.4 is best we ever got---even the car computer agrees 1290820

Me an the wife went out and purchased a new Kia Sportage and were very impressed with the claim of 31mpg highway since the wife has a long travel on the highway when she goes to work. Plus the looks and features of the Sportage got us sold on it. My wife started to complain soon after the purchase about her gas mileage. I brushed it off by telling her its a new car and needs to be broken in. At about 5 months of owning it we traveled to Las Vegas which is about 400 miles for us. We did the trip at night with no traffic and I was driving about 65 - 70 mph. I never saw the car computer go above 23mpg. I was like WT%, the wife was right about the mpg. We have now owned this Kia for 10 months and the mileage averages about 19 -21 mpg and thats highway. So this week we decided to trade it in.....NOT. We went to several dealerships and they weren't going to give us anything for the Sportage. We would be in the hole about 10,000 dollars. Are you kidding me..!! All the dealerships we went to told us the KIA is a worthless car made in Korea. So this is a warning to all out there who are thinking about the Sportage...when you drive it off the lot you just lost about 8,000 dolllars and you will never reach the 31 mpg they state you will get. You have been warned and learn from my mistake. |
