Engine Blows and Warranty is not Valid???
Jul 9, 2008
Kia Motors complaint by Brenna Brown
2004 Kia Rio

My timing belt goes out at 65000 mile and blows my engine up. When I called kia they said that the engine is only warrantied up to 60000 miles and will fix it and add the bill to the already exsisting bill the I have. Who knows a car that the engine blows at 65000 miles and isn't mad? And do they know that engine for this car is hard to come by just for the fact that this has happened to the same car over and over? And what happened to 100,000 mile bumper to bumper warranty? Doesn't the engine fall in between the front and back bumper? Mine did until it blew and we had to take it apart.

Kia gives out false advertising and I wouldn't dare tell anyone to go buy Any car from them because the won't be satisfied and everything that goes wrong with their cars are not their fault. They just want the money and I would suggest to buy a car that will hold up and be worth the money that is actually paid.

Kia's warranty is not worth the paper it's printed on! They want receipts for every single oil change for the past 95000 miles or they wont cover the seized engine, despite the fact that the dealer has confirmed that the engine was properly maintained and not abused or neglected. There is a one month wait for repairs at our dealer because 2 other local Kia dealers stopped dealing with Kia because of the problems. They will do anything and everything to avoid paying for the repair. Furthermore, the representatives of Kia are the most unprofessional people I have ever encountered, and truly represent the trashy quality of the cars.

Bryan-That statement makes no sense to me-You are saying that the timing chain is covered up to 100,000 miles, but if it goes after 60,000 miles and causes the engine to blow, only the timing chain is covered and the engine is not? So they will cover the $600 timing chain as warranty, but the damage it caused by blowing the engine is not covered? Makes no sense to me at all.

I'm not saying that Kia is right, but your wrong about the warranty. As an owner of Kia, the warranty is a 60,000 mile bumper to bumper with many exceptions and a 100,000 mile powertrain. The timing belt should fall within the 100,000 powertrain warranty. You really should read and understand the warranty before assuming your covered. Also, you must make sure all maintenance is performed on time or all warranties are void, no matter how many miles are on it.
