Did not honor warrenty at 28,000 miles.

Kia Motors complaint by Momof2
We were on vacation in the Outer Banks when the timing belt in our KIA Sorento went at 28,000 miles. We had to have the car towed 83 miles to Greenbrier Kia in Virginia because that was the closest Kia dealer. The service manager would not cover the warranty because he said we were off pavement and the warrenty does not cover any repairs if the vehicle is off pavement. We then called Kia consumer Affairs. They were rude and incompetent. They stated that if I got stuck in the snow and spun my tires, the warranty wouldn't cover anything.

When we arrived home, we realized that the dealership did not put two pans back on the vehicle. We called Greenbrier Kia and the serevice manager stated that if they "find them" they will let us know. That was a week ago. Kia Corp. said that there was nothing that they could do. I am trading in my Kia for an American car.

We bought a used Kia sportage (75K miles). We knew it would need repair as it got older but I had no idea how many and how expensive the parts were!! At 80K antifreeze came POURING into the interior of the car actually spewing onto the dash and seats. Thankfully this didn't happen when we were in the car or someone could have been burned severely. The heater core and hoses had burst. At 83K the valves and head gasket went . Ball joints and brakes at 90K, catalytic converter at 92K and the rear tire rack hinges rusted clean. When the tranny started slipping and the maintenance issues with passing inspection got to be so much we sold it for $400 to get rid of it. I think in the short time we had it with all we spent on repairs I could have taken my 4 kids to Disney for a week!!I I will never buy one again.

I have a 2001 KIA Sephia, the first KIA I ever bought after being a loyal Toyota owner for years. It is a commuter car. I have over 120K miles, still on the original belts. I have replaced battery, brakes (front only) and had one tune up. I havent even been close on getting the oil changed reguraly, but it starts every day and get me where I am going.

Great Car for the price.

I also feel your pain. I luckily do not have my kia anymore, but when I did I had so many problems. I had an optima the first year they came out. First, within 2 weeks the check engine light came on; they said it was because it was raining. So, i took it in and they reset it. A few weeks later the same thing; this time they said it was because it was to dry outside. Wow; whats a person to do. Then the topper was One day it just died and we couldn't figure out what was wrong. So, we had it towed to the dealership where it ended up being for over a month. They couldn't even figure out what was wrong with it. They replaced every computer and piece they could think of. To make matters worse they refused to give me a rental car. So, I was on the phone every 2 or 3 days trying to figure out what was going on, and everytime all they would say; we still are not sure what is wrong but we did replace this this and this today. We will let you know when we find out something. So, when we got the car back and traded it. Good luck to those who have to go through this.

I feel your pain. The cars are ***. I had my timing belt strip off the teeth and bent 12 valves. Had it fixed by a competent mechanic and 2 days later it stripped the teeth off it again and bent all 16 valves. Every time I see someone drive a Kia I personally warn them of the *** they are about to endure.
